Emmanuel C Mbakwe

Group Chairman
Emmanuel Mbakwe’s breadth and depth of experience encompasses the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. A four-decade international business veteran, he has worked in and with some of the premier names in global business, either in senior line management roles or as a trusted advisor. Mr Mbakwe has more than two decades of global consumer markets experience as a senior manager or management consultant, with blue chip companies such as Unilever, Safeway, Kimberley Clark, Nestle and KPMG. His public sector advisory experience includes the UK’s Home Office, DfE (Department for Education), the BBC and various local governments. Through the years he has served on the boards of a number of non-profit organisations, with particular focus on education. He currently serves as a board member and trustee of Premier Christian Media Trust, the owner of Premier Christian Radio, the world’s leading Christian radio station. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Law, from Coventry University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Aston University and a professional Diploma in Marketing. In the course of his storied bi-vocational career, an apostolic leader by calling, he had the privilege of serving for two terms (2008-2016) as General Overseer, Apostolic Church UK, mother Church of the Apostolic Church Worldwide, being the first person of non-European descent to do so since the inception in 1916 of this worldwide Pentecostal denomination; a Movement that has a presence in over 100 countries and a membership headcount of over 15 million people. Happily married for 36 years, Mr Mbakwe is a grandfather with four grown up daughters, and a multitude of ‘adoptive’ sons and daughters around the world. One of his great passions is to see the raising up of the next generation of leaders in every sphere of human endeavour. As such he functions as a leadership coach and mentor to many established and emerging leaders around the world; in business, the Church and para-Church space.
